Interservice once again was in Canberra at the AIS pool with John Robbs doing an excellent job of putting it all together for the 3rd year running. The mens competitio featured teams from ACT, VIC, NSW and QLD.
NSW were hot for revenge and once again QLD and NSW faced off in the final. Milo the Ethiopian heavyweight in his pre-game address to the NSW team was heard to say he would walk home to Sydney if they lost to QLD again. Well once again after a game that went goal for goal, a long range speculator from Phil that went top corner, much to Adrian's disgust and a final goal once again to Dion settled the game in favour of QLD to make it 2 in a row.
The teams were once again accommodated at RAAF Fairbairn and owing to the distance to town some social events were held in the boozer. These included a game of Volleyball with a difference that had some spectators gagging and a glass tampering competition between Matty and Pete.
The final night in Canberra was once again spent in the Private Bin. Owing to us and the Canberra Raiders being the only ones in the bar a scrum was packed down which we of course won (maybe.........I'm a little hazy on the details) although at some cost with Phil rolling his ankle. Some stage diving then ensued from the bar level down to the dance floor. The final entertainment was provided by Bloory who as we were all walking from the dance floor to the bar performed a swan dive down onto the dance floor thinking we would still be there to catch him. The shoulder still pains him to this day.
