The author and a few older members count themselves amongst the most privileged few as they were exposed to the bunnies at the hands of the greatest of Bunny Masters, ‘Reg” Livermore.
Reg was the last in a long line of illustrious Bunny Masters and after a desperate search through thousands of applicants was able to discover 2 dedicated and zealous acolytes to whom he passed on the arcane mysteries and secrets of the Bunnies. One of these Masters, Dion, has since fallen foul of the dreaded discharge, (Now re-enlisted. - Ed. Where are you Dion?) however the other still remains to this day (although appearances are limited) and is known to all as the keeper of the Bunnies, he is of course ‘Bloory’.
On many occasions Reg was heard to utter those fateful words, “the Bunnies are feeling a little tired now”, in deference to the fatigue felt by the bunnies after a hard roll, a tradition that has been strongly maintained by Bloory. The sound of these words has been the death knell to many an aspirant to the lofty heights of being a Bunny Club member, eh Adrian! Membership is the ultimate accolade for a Defence Water Polo player, some would even say the pinnacle of his/her sporting career.
Many are the numbers of otherwise outstanding Water Polo players who, unable to come to grips with their failure to solve the puzzle of the Bunnies have retired from the sport broken men and women (are you a member yet Craig? How many tours is that?).
There have been many dark periods in the history of the bunnies with the formation of anti-bunny cadres and even the suspected betrayal of the deadliest secret of the Bunny Club “How many bunnies around the hole?” by a member! Despite these tumultuous times the Bunny Club has remained as exclusive, relevant and progressive as it has always been Who will be the next member inducted into these halls of antiquity, to be remembered forever as that loftiest of high flyers,……………………..the Bunny Club member!!
